Five things we learned from Barcelona’s win over Roma  Répondre en citant

sbobet asia Barcelona are halfway there

With the first leg now out of the way, Barcelona can look forward to the second leg of their matchup with Roma with real confidence. Leaving the Camp Nou with a three-goal cushion and only allowing one away goal, their chances of progressing look good.

4-1 = A lucky result for Barcelona
Roma’s gaffer, Eusebio di Francesco stated after the game that he felt his side had been treated unfairly by the scoreline based on the way they had played. With two own goals helping them out, many fans and pundits will agree. While Barcelona came out 4-1 winners, they were not at their brilliant best. A performance like this against a Bayern Munich or Juventus would have seen them punished. More will be needed in the weeks to come.

Busquets is peaking at the right time
Although Sergio Busquets was withdrawn early over an injury concern, Sergio is truly showing the world and his team exactly what he has developed into. A counter stopping and attack starting midfielder who never seems to misplace a step. When Spain’s former coach Vincente Del Bosque stated, “If I were a player, I would like to be like Busquets”, he was laughed at. Sergio has helped Barcelona and Spain achieve the highest of highs and his talent was on full display against Roma. sbobet asia

Semedo and Roberto – not the right fit
Ernesto Valverde can be forgiven for fielding Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo on the right flank against Roma, but the same mistake will not be forgiven against stronger opposition. Both players didn’t really connect with each other on the pitch, something that Ousmane Dembele has proven he can do. Moving forward, the pairing must be given time in La Liga to form more of a partnership, but not in Champions League games.

Suarez net his first Champions League goal
After 31 shots on target, Luis Suarez finally registered his first Champions League goal of the campaign. Barcelona will be hoping he has saved his goalscoring exploits for the remaining games left in the season! After a low ball in from Denis Suarez, Luis was quick to strike after an abysmal clearance. Even though it was a bit lucky, Barcelona will hope the goal sparks the fantastic Uruguayan. sbobet asia

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid: Lucas Vazquez makes cheeky cla  Répondre en citant

maxbet LUCAS VAZQUEZ has declared that Real Madrid look forward to WINNING away at Bayern Munich on Wednesday night (7.45pm kick-off). The two European giants contest the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash in Bavaria but according to Vazquez, the outcome is already decided.

That’s despite Zinedine Zidane’s side needing an 87th-minute equaliser from Cristiano Ronaldo to prevent slipping to a league defeat at home to Athletic Bilbao last night. Winger Vazquez played the full 90 minutes as Real Madrid suffered another disappointing domestic result, which hands rivals Atletico Madrid the chance to go six points ahead in second thanks to their game in hand.

But reigning European champions Real turn their attentions back to continental competition - where they have fared much better - as they look to move another step closer to a third straight Champions League success. Reflecting on the draw with Bilbao, Vazquez said: "A bittersweet taste. The team put in a great performance and we were the better side throughout. maxbet

“They went ahead and then sat back, defended very well and played their game. We had a lot of chances and just lacked that cutting edge. In the second half it more difficult but we stuck at it. Moving on to the Bayern game, he added: ”Of course we’re thinking about it. No one is in doubt. We’re very confident, we know what’s coming and what we have to do.

“We have the whole week to prepare for that tie and we're really looking forward to winning in Munich. We’re on form. “The team is playing well, full of confidence and that is the most important thing.” Ronaldo’s equaliser against Athletic was the 12th successive match in which the Portuguese star has scored, having plundered 27 goals in his last 15 games. He will predictably be key if Real are to come away from the Allianz Arena with an advantage over the Bundesliga champions. maxbet

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson hails Andros Townsend  Répondre en citant

sbobet online 24 Roy Hodgson believes Crystal Palace's unsung hero Andros Townsend is a superior player now to the one who once inspired England. The winger, 26, has been a rare, consistent figure for the club during a troubled season in which many of those around him have suffered from injury. Townsend became one of Palace's leaders in their absence, guiding the promising Aaron Wan-Bissaka through his first senior appearances and again thriving alongside the more celebrated Wilfried Zaha and Ruben Loftus-Cheek since their returns.

He has even impressed when injuries meant him playing out of position in an unorthodox front two, and his club manager - who gave him his international debut and was rewarded with the displays that ensured England's qualification to the 2014 World Cup - feels he has been wrongly overlooked. "With England he was just a flying winger, wasn't he?" said Hodgson of a player once considered one of England's most exciting prospects. "He has shown this season that he can do a lot more than be a flying winger. He can play as one of two wide forwards playing much more centrally. sbobet online 24

"He has also shown defensive aspects to his play that perhaps were not quite so eminent. All I am concerned about is that he does what we would like him to do every day on the training ground and every matchday. "Andros has played all but one game, two games - I know he's made at least 32 starts out of 34, which is a fantastic achievement because he's also had to battle through certain injury problems, but his determination and desire to get on the field has got him through that.

"His work-rate and determination to do well for the team has been extremely valuable, and it can't be shown in the type of statistics that people like to show, i.e. 'He's scored lots and lots of goals and made lots and lots of assists', but he has assisted. He's assisted us in so many ways. "It's right to mention Andros; we're very, very pleased with him. He's another one who takes his job very seriously, and takes keeping Crystal Palace in the Premier League very seriously, and we're delighted we have people like him and Wilfried Zaha to help us in our cause." sbobet online 24

Besiktas refuse Fenerbahce replay after Turkish Cup abandonm  Répondre en citant

Besiktas refuse Fenerbahce replay after Turkish Cup abandonment

maxbet Besiktas say they "will not show up" to replay their Turkish Cup semi-final second leg away to rivals Fenerbahce after the original match on April 19 was abandoned. The Besiktas players walked off the field 57 minutes in at Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu Stadium when their coach, Senol Gunes, was hit by an object that was thrown from the home fans.

Gunes was later taken to hospital and needed stitches for a head wound. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) ordered the game to be replayed behind closed doors on May 3, but Besiktas have warned they will not be participating. "We have been on the field for 115 years, we have won, had draws or lost on the field. In order not to accept being losers, we will not show up," said a Besiktas statement. maxbet

The statement was issued on the same day Turkey submitted a bid to UEFA to host Euro 2024. The TFF has invested 55m USD (£42m) into a new e-ticketing system in an attempt to stem the country's problems with safety at football stadiums. "It is an important issue for us," said TFF vice president Servet Yardimci. "We would like our stadiums to be comfortable, welcoming, family-friendly. It's an issue that the whole country - including our government - take very seriously." maxbet
